I can hardly believe it’s been two weeks already, but then again, it feels like forever ago that I attended The Motherhood Society Retreat hosted by Beauty & Lifestyle Mommy Magazine and Sew Trendy Accessories. The Motherhood Society is the #1 trusted community of motherhood photographers – you are included by invitation only, and I am so extremely honored to be a part of this group of amazing photographers, doulas, and businesses. Last month not only did I take a trip to New Mexico with my family, but I also got a weekend away with this awesome community of women in Florida. We had an absolute wonderful time getting to know each other, learn from one another, and just altogether have a great time. I was never in a sorority, but I imagine that our weekend together would be much like a super awesome sorority. Besides the fun times, the editors of the magazine put together an epic weekend of sessions for all of us. Below are some of my favorites from each session. All the gowns you see are from Sew Trendy Accessories – and I was lucky enough to score the green high/low one for my client closet (woot!). We did everything from family lifestyle in doors,  a beautiful couples session, lifestyle maternity, a boho maternity beach session, a stylized nursing/family session on the beach, and much more! It was so much fun – and I did most of these sessions with my 13 month old strapped to my back in my Tula carrier (I’m SO grateful for that Becky!).  Well, enjoy my version of each of these sessions below, and don’t forget to head on over to the Beauty & Lifestyle Mommy Blog for more amazing photos from some other super amazing photographers!

Introducing Fresh 48 Portrait Sessions.

A Fresh 48 session is a portrait session that is perfect for those families that wish to capture the first few hours of their new baby’s life, but don’t want to have the entire birth process photographed. Photographed within the first 24 – 48 hours of your baby’s life.  I will not be posing your baby as we do during a studio newborn session. These lifestyle sessions are perfect for remembering that first day forever. I will photograph your baby’s first yawn, how she stretches when she is unwrapped from her swaddle, her cute curled up baby feet, and the belly button will all be documented. Any natural interaction that occurs during my time in your hospital room or home – first feedings, diaper changes, and all of those first amazing family meetings. I will also capture those quiet interactions between your and your little one. There will be no props, or lights brought to your session, this is purely just me capturing your little one’s sweet new moments in a fresh & natural way.

Why a Fresh 48 session?

Your baby changes so quickly the first few hours, days, and weeks. From the time they are born, to just the next day, they look so different. Capture those first milestones: first bath, breastfeeding, meeting siblings or family members, Dad’s first diaper change, meeting the grandparents, going home from the hospital, or simply just admiring your new little creation! This session captures moments like these that will soon be lost in the fog of your memory. These are the images your friends and family will be dying to see and your parents will want to keep forever.

What is Included in a Fresh 48 Session?

•    The {Fresh} 48 Session takes place when you call, during daylight hours, within the first 48 hours of birth. I like to be there as quickly after the birth as possible, so the sooner the better!

•    It can take place at the hospital, birth center or at home and will last approximately 60-90 minutes.

•    Lifestyle photography  – unposed, natural or available light. A mix of black and white and soft color images.

•    Includes a minimum of 50 digital images with print release.

Includes same-day (or next day if your session is late in the day)  Facebook sneak peek for you to share with friends and family.

Here is a wonderful example of my latest Fresh 48 Session!

A couple of weeks ago I went on a road trip with my mother and my four children (crazy, right?!) to New Mexico, where my mother now lives. It was a wonderful adventure, to say the least. I spent a few days with my mom and then headed to Florida for the first annual Motherhood Society Retreat with Beauty & Lifestyle Mommy Magazine. The retreat was refreshing and inspiring. I met so many wonderful photographers, and still cannot believe that I am a part of this group! While I was there, I met the owners and designers of Sew Trendy Accessories and got to purchase this beautiful new high-low gown for my maternity closet. When I returned to New Mexico, I set up a session for the high desert – and I just adore how the images came out. New Mexico is called “The Land of Enchantment” and I couldn’t agree more.

Last month I took a trip to Morro Bay & Cambria with my family and was able to schedule two beautiful ladies for a session on the beach for a sunset maternity session. There was a special reason for these sessions, and each of these ladies got to wear one other dress that I brought with me from my client closet…but, I cannot share those very special images just yet. They’re a special project that I’m working on with the amazing ladies of Beauty & Lifestyle Mommy Magazine. I had so much fun doing these sessions, and just loved the very different sunsets that I got at each beach….Morro Bay was bright & sunny with very few clouds, while the very next evening at Moonstone Beach the marine layer came in very quickly and it was very windy & cold. The sessions each look very different, but I love them each for their own reasons. I cannot wait to share the images of these mamas in the other gown, but for now, enjoy these!

Sweet Kiana came to me earlier this month for her sitter session. Her mother & I went to Fresno Pacific University together.  It was so nice seeing an old friend again and meeting her new baby girl for the first time. Kiana was so sweet. She bumped her head just before we started the session, and had been crying, but you would never know from these adorable little grins.
